Value of my Rogers Set

Loading...

I have a 1958 Rogers Eagle Badge “Constellation” set, 13, 16, 22. I am wondering what the value of it may be.

You may remember my thread “1958 Rogers B & B Restoration “ about a year ago on VDF. The drums are certainly not collector quality: they have some patched holes on the bass drum, and each lug has been repaired with steel reinforced putty. The drums were rewrapped with Jammin Sam’s blue sparkle wrap. The lug repairs have held fast after a year of constant tension, and light travel.

Any insight you learned people have to offer is appreciated.

(The set was black - a rewrap - when I got it, as shown below)

Thanks!

they are beautiful

unfortunately the extra holes , the rerwrap and the B&B lugs devalue the drums ... unless there are zero cracks on the B&B then the value can go through the roof

if that kit was collector grade it would be worth a good amount ... but a players kit with B&B lugs just doesn't hold the value because to play it you would most likely have to replace them with the reissue B&B lugs

the kit is gorgeous and someone would definitely buy it ... but I say keep it

Okay, so I got only one response. I am concluding that everyone else believes the same? If so, would you venture a dollar value, too, please?

Thanks!

I'm gonna ballpark just under $1k. If you listed these for $1200 and negotiated with someone interested in buying them, you would probably get $900-$1000 for them.

Rogers drums built in Covington originally came in glass glitter, not sparkle, so since these have been rewrapped in sparkle, that could hurt the value a bit. I have a 1959 kit in blue glitter, and the correct blue glitter is darker and deeper than the JamminSam sparkle wrap.

Opinion towards B&B lugs have gotten more positive as of recent. They used to be worth very little due to them breaking and having no easy means of repair. Since Rogers re-introduced B&B lugs with the new Dynasonics, they have started to get a little bit more popular.

You have a beautiful kit, though! These Eagle badge drums sound fantastic, you have a wonderful recording/gigging kit, which I have done with my kit as well. Take care of 'em and enjoy 'em! If you do end up selling, expect $1k +/- $300. At least that's what I think!

Last year I sold an original Blue Onyx 5 piece with snare for $1200.

Thinking with rewrap, and very much depending on the condition of the lugs, somewhere around $750.

Thanks, fellas. If I do sell them, I’ll ask a little less, since the bearing edge has been monkeyed with and a lot of the tension rods are a little rusty. If I do decide to sell them, I would likely post it here first.

Thanks again.
