Used Calf Skin Heads

Loading...

Been playing drums for 50 plus years, but have just now jumped into the vintage parade drums. Some of the ones I purchased have calf skins. Some are in pretty bad shape but some are playable, especially the BD heads. Don't really want them, do they have value? Thanks for any response.

On more than one occasion, people have asked what to do when the one drum they finally got has ripped heads. Then get a new calf head and try to age it to match the rest of the drums. Or, a collector would like original period correct heads.

I see a use. I would not trash them. it`s the ONLY way someone can get a period correct head.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

I always save them, also never know when you may need to cut one down and use it for a vintage restoration.

Depending on the sizes, vintage calf heads certainly have value. I much prefer them to newly-made ones.
