Unusual Zildjian Stamp?

The weights remind me of 70's Zilco hats i've played. Thin & trashy (in a nice way). I see lots of Canadian Zildjian's n' Zilco by Azco's up here, but i haven't run across this stamp with lack of made in canada. Now I have to go back to the Sabian factory!

I was surprised with the weights myself. They're not very trashy or Sabiany. In fact I traded some Sabian hats for these because I prefer the Avedis. These hats have the typical Avedis Zildjian sound, but with less volume. I guess that would be the best way I could describe them. Top and bottom are a similar weight.

While we're at it.. Can you confirm which stamp this is?There is no ink logo. It's a 14" medium heavy bottom. It's lighter than the heavy New Beat bottom from the 60's that I sold a whiles back.

That looks like the usual "1960s stamp" to me, although it has a very specific look to it which you will see sometimes. These pics show some specific "quirks" which show up (white circles are little missing portions, the red circle is the shorted comma part of the semicolon, the green circle on the right is showing breaks in lines which are sometimes there at that spot, or nearby, the green circle on the left shows a place where there is always a small gap between two lines, but sometimes it gets larger).

I see these "quirks" in yours. This may be a stamping fault, or it may represent a specific die which was worn or had problems. We don't know yet. We just know some look like this.

One thing to try is measuring the height accurately. We think there are some which are closer to 1 1/4" while other ones are closer to the more traditional 1 3/16". But some days I think we're just operating beyond reliable measurements and the real story is they are in between those two at 1 7/32" (give or take):

1 6/32" (1 3/16)

1 7/32" <<<<<<<

1 8/32" ( 1 1/4)

I'd be keen to hear if you think yours is closer to 1 3/16" or 1.25" or in that in-between height.

And thanks for the offer to get a better pic of the No Origin stamp. If it's no trouble then please do. But the one you've posted already is fine.

Thanks for the reply. Very insightful! Here's some better pics of the 70's trademark with no country of origin for you and for all to use as see fit

Thanks a lot!
