Oh man, really?
I just ordered 2 dozen...DOH
I hate toms that go glug, glug, glug when you hit them instead of thud, thud, thud.
Did I tell you how I feel about Ringo?Mind Blowi:D
Black Sticks?- I haven't tried them as I'd think they'd be too dark on stage- I like the sparkly gold, silver, blue and red ones 'cause they look cool twirling'.....
Ya see, that's where we differ, nothing is more distracting and unnecessary as twirling during a solo. Hit the drums and make music.
I've always wondered if guys like Tommy Aldridge do their stick twirling during a recording.Hmmmm
That's why this forum is fun/ we can have differing opinions yet still share them! I like concert toms and roto toms (just watched the old US Festival on Axs where Triumph had the full concert tom Tama kit and Missing Persons had the full roto tom kit) No they aren't as full and deep like closed toms but they are still musical and interesting to me as an instrument- different music utilizes different tools for it's creation.
(as an aside I don't think Tommy twirled during recording as there was no audience to entertain!)
(HAHA!- you can tell I'm lazy today as I just watched The Rolling Stones Totally Stripped from 1995.... and Charlie Watts is twirling his brushes.... IN THE STUDIO!) Ya gotta laugh!...different strokes for different folks!
This may start some bantering, and not sure if it really fits the intent of the thread. . . What really irks me is people that take a perfectly good vintage drum and tear it down to sell it off piece by piece at very inflated prices. Saw one guy took a WFL snare butt that normally sells for $25 and is selling the bits and pieces at $10-15 each. Ok I realize some of us need pieces for broken ones but when you look at their posts and can see that you can build a complete drum from all the parts being sold really irks me.

Michael,
You got it backwards - you just posted a POPULAR opinion.
