I just came into an unfinished (NOS--not drilled) 13"x4.5" shell. It is 3 ply (mahogany/poplar/mahogany) with maple re-rings, has a date stamp (1959), a large "M" stamp, and snare beds cut into it. My research has pointed to it being a Slingerland shell (from the M stamp), but I can't find any info on 13" x 4.5" Slingerland snares. Am I completely off the mark? Help, please!

Oh, yes, how stupid of me...ALWAYS post a pic! It's your typical 3-ply shell...nothing out of the ordinary about it, except for the size.
I saw those in the catalog, but I haven't found any info on a 13x4.5 Slingerland snare. I'm wondering if it was a student model size or something...???

It looks slingerland, as you know they made all kinds of odd uncatalogued stuff.
I didn't know that. I'm not *too much* of a Slingerland expert. Good to know. I was just curious if the "M" stamp was exclusive to Slingerland's shells, or if it crept onto Ludwig's shells at some point during the 50s as well.
Thanks, vintagemore!
