Two Rogers Holiday Tom Toms..need some info

Loading...

I just purchased two Rogers Holiday toms, a 12" and a 13". They look like they were White Marine Pearl, but have a yellow fade/patina to them. They came complete with all the hardware, mufflers and have the labels inside. Serial numbers are 73661 and 79622. The interiors are a solid grey, rather than the Granitone splatter. I also have a vintage COB Dynasonic (5" x 14") with serial number 21753. Is there a way to positively identify when these drums were produced? Would anyone have a matching bass drum and floor tom? Would these toms belong to what I have read on this site as the Dave Clark Londoner kit? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a way to remove some of the yellowing from the white marine pearl wrap? I have removed the hardware to soak the parts in Dawn/water and clean them up. The color is so white under the hardware, it would be nice if there was a way to bring back the white.

Dayton, OH labels = 1966-1969.

I clean with vinegar/water solution, then use a GOOD car wax to really shine them up. Take your time, it isn't easy to remove 40+ years of dirt and grime.

You'll never get them the same as under the hardware, due to the natural aging and exposure to UV light.

Quite possibly Dave Clark toms. Fits the era.

Too bad no tag for the snare. Could you post a picture of it? Need to see the strainer, lugs, etc.

I have tried to post some pics, but the they have failed to upload as attachments on this site. I'm going to try downsizing the pics.

The snare has some features that may identify it easier. The bottom hoop has removable pieces instead of the tack welded later ones. (they stick out from the hoop to allow for the snare rack to fit. The snare rack has rubber tips on each end. The Rogers nameplate is a flat script. The badge is an oval with two small bolts/screws (? I forgot) holding it on. I'm pretty sure that it's from the 1960's, just not sure when?

Dayton tags in the range you provided should have flat gray interiors and would make them 67.

Thank you for the tip, I will give it a try. There is also a small rust stain on the wrap from under the mounting plate. It didn't come off with a soapy wet rag, so does anyone have a safe solution to removing it?

Mono...That aged look is what serious vintage players love. You cant buy the aging process.Definately clean them up,but removing father time in my books is a no-no..They,re wonderful drums,i hope you complete the kit.

Hit like you mean it!!
