I'm not sure how one would define "factory correct" since the factory was willing to build drums in almost any way the customer requested (within certain limits). Custom lacquer colors, custom rail placements, double mufflers, double spurs, extra cymbal mounts, a 20" or 24" bass drum instead of a 22", all you had to do was ask through your dealer and they'd do it for you.
Now "catalog correct" is a different matter I guess, as there are those that discount anything that isn't shown in a catalog picture. I don't quite follow that thinking myself as the factory would make what you wanted (see above), or combine whatever sizes you wanted into a non-cataloged set. Even dealer or customer added parts, like an extra cymbal mount bracket should be considered valid provided that they are the correct vintage and were installed properly. Sure, a super classic or downbeat set with Pearl mounts installed is a "player" and worth considerably less but a set with a proper Ludwig extra cymbal mount correctly installed really shouldn't be considered any less desirable...perhaps it would even be more desireable to someone who wanted to put a cymbal there.
Regardless, that will be a very cool set when you get it fixed up.
