any tips on the actual tuning of the skins??

Bob Gatzen has done a bunch of online videos for Evans, including a series on tuning -- see below.

There's a whole bunch more out there, from Bob and other guys. Resources like YouTube and Google Video are great for stuff like this! There's no substitute for spending time with your kit and a drum key, but these guys have figured out what works for them and can help get you pointed in the right direction.

Keep your options open.... there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Or tune a drum.

Or tuna cat, or skina drum.

Or make a BLT sandwich.

have you heard of a band called blanco diablo?? they're from charlotte.

they play over here quite a bit, and my band has played with them on a few occasions.

good band, and a good bunch of lads.

Nope, but a bud or two and I are going to Charlotte tomorrow for the evening.
