Trying to get some input on a weird 9x13 WFL tom I have... Last viewed: 3 seconds ago

Wondering what the WFL gurus might think about this WFL 9x13 tom I have.

It's a 10 lugger and I think I can see in RC's Ludwig Book a snippet of a

ad for a '48-'49 Ray Mckinnley kit that has a 10 lug 9x13 so I've up loaded

a few pictures of that picture and wanted to know what you guys thought.

The spacing looks right to me for 5 lugs on each side -

I bought a 1951 mint WFL catalog a few years ago from the Bay and of course that sized tom isn't mentioned or listed.

So I think I need to see a '48 WFL catalog.

Sorry in advance if the full sized pictures are obnoxious, not sure if VDF has a auto resize script or not...

Seems that 5 (and even 7) lug (per head) drums weren't that uncommon back in the day. Gretsch still uses 5 lugs on toms that are 12" or smaller.

This 13 of Buddy's looks like a 5 lug drum...

Thanks KO, was hoping to see the tom listed in a catalog too.

Yeah, that BR tom also looks like a 10 lugger

Looked on VDF and there are a lot of catalog scans but nothing that denotes

any 10 lug toms that I could find anyway. I think I have seen one on eBay in the past too. I'm guessing they offered them as a way for guys to save a few bucks. But if not that, then WFL had to be making them in '46 and '47

then switched to 12 lugs in '48? I say 46-47 because it was right after the

war and maybe they had to ramp back up into full production of metal

lugs for awhile?

Seeing a 46 or a 47 catalog would be great!

My kit is a Damen AV badge so could be a '48-'52 and maybe the tom

was something leftover from earlier production...
