My Trixon Telstar 2000 set at a gig last friday (11/28/14). They are original yellow sparkle although the stage lights make them look pink in the photo. The second photo is from last saturday (12/6/14).

cool kit how long have you owned them?
Trixon had some very cool looking kits. Love the Speedfire too. What do you make of the sound and general build quality?
Fabulous looking set and would also like to hear more of your comments on the Trixon Telstar 2000`s.Always loved their innovative designs-totally against the grain.

I bought them about 3 weeks ago locally. I used them on one gig last week and I'm playing them again tonight. They sound great, especially the bass drum when mic'd. The bass is really punchy, best sounding bass drum I've ever owned. I think they are made really well too. My Ludwig, North and other sets might not get much gig time anymore.

BTW, I'm using a Superkick II head on the bass drum batter side. The front head is an Aquarian coated with that big 6" hole. There is also a small bed pillow in the bass drum that I bought at Kmart. I don't release my beater and bury it in the head when I play so I need that big hole or the beater bounces. I also use wooden beaters. The toms have Evans 2 ply on the top and Evans glass reso heads. The snare has a Remo ambassador bottom and a Remo Emperor X on top. I got an Evans Emad for the bass but because of their steeper collar design it wouldn't fit. The Superkick II went on with only a little swearing. I use Superkick II's on all my other kits. All of the hardware in the photo is DW 9000. I use the same hardware with all of my sets, I just switch the drums. All of my mounted toms have those RIMS mount things with DW mounts. I did remove the mutes from all of the drums since I don't use them and they rattled and buzzed. I had the same problem with my '71 Ludwig set. I bought that set in 1979 and I took the mutes out almost immediately.

At last nights gig the snare batter head pulled out of it's hoop, I think because the metric rim is slightly larger than a true 14" rim. Today I replaced the original metric rim with an actual 14" rim. I also replaced the snare side rim with an actual 13" rim just in case. Lucky for me I carry a spare snare drum.
