The snare I have has newer snare wires that I can't SEEM to tighten enough. The rattle drives me crazy. Is there a way to tighten the wires up like ,say, any Ludwig snare.I have a evans top head and original bottom head if that makes any difference.Iwould like to gig with these again, but the snare is holding me back. Thanks,V

Is it chord or plastic wires sometimes if plastic then they have a tendency to slip also try adjusting with threaded stick open all the way that will give more room for slip I use to have a trixon snare the strainer is smaller than usual good luck
April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

What works for me is to set up snare tight, kick the BD drum while turning down the throw adjuster until buzz stops. Hit drum harder.
It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

The shape or angle of the snare wire end plates has a lot to do with how a particular set of snares sounds on a particular drum. You just need to experiment with different types of snare wires, if you have other drums that you can "borrow" from, or extras lying around.
