Looking for a little help on how to remove the snare wires from a Trixon snare. It's a 14x5. The snares are set in plastic at the ends and they appear to be held into the metal carrier with a pin. Do you have to knock the pin out to remove the snare wires? I just want to change the snare head but this looks like an all day project.
dboomer!
Yes indeed!... that is exactly what you do! I have a couple 1967 Trixon Buddy Rich models.. ( COS and wood ) .. and the wood model features this particular parallel throw/snare arrangement. To do the complete resto on that drum, I had to remove the wires, and everything else of course. So... tap out the "pin" using an awl, or something of that nature, and a rubber mallet... or small steel head type hammer. You don't need a lot of force. It slides out relatively easy. Reassemble in reverse when you want to put it back together. I'll attach a few pics of my 1967 "BR" with the same set up as yours.
