I found this Trixon set advertised locally. What is going on with all the mounts on the top of the bass drum? Did this set have three mounted toms at one time? He only has one now, and no floor tom.
The price is right, but there are parts missing. The set is from 1966. Will it take normal sized heads or will it need weird international sizes?

what i CAN tell you is thats a ludwig mount in back... id scoop em depending on $ , 2 outta 3 drums is pretty good . not sure about the original mounts , it does look funky
you've got 2 tom mounts and the central Trixon mount is a cymbal arm mount. I have a similar set up on my kit but the second tom mount was a later edition. The teardrop lugs make it an earlier model and the sizes may be a bit odd. They don't seem to be international sizes but either a bit under-sized or over-sized. What model is it?
There are others more knowledgeable than me who'll surely chime in.

have two sets of trixons in the trade section might be moving them to for sale soon anyone interested?
those lugs are 50's trixons i think before they went to the rectangular lugs with the rubber casing...my guess is a snare drum mount and a tom mount and the small one is for the cymbal arm.

my Telstar kit is early 60s with those lugs. I have the same mount set up as mentioned, definitely added later. Also had a Pearl mount fitted which left big nasty holes. Hopefully that Ludwig mount hasn't left too big a hole.
That's a strange mix of mounting hardware, for sure. The two Trixon tom mounts feature the old logo while the cymbal arm mount has the later design. One can only speculate as to what was added and when. Early Luxus kit with owner mods? Is there a date code stamped in ink inside the shells?
The only Trixons with the teardrop or shipform lugs that had standard inch sized shells were from 1963, when they transitioned to the ribbed square tank lugs. The mounting hardware was altered in 1956 from the old logo to the new logo. There was obviously some stock to use up because drums exist with the new badge but the old logo on the hardware. This dates this drum to 56 or 57 and they need metric heads. The Trixon equivalent of a 20" shell is actually 19 11/16"( 500mm) and the 22" shell equivalent is 21 21/32"( 550mm). The rare 24 was 23 5/8 (600mm).
You can get 20,22 or 24 hoops to work with standard heads on the kick drums, with some fiddling and the 330mm rack toms are just a smidge under 13", so standard sized heads will work on them but the snares and floortoms are way oversize and require, either custom calf or custom Remo heads.
I have custom Remo heads available, if anyone wants them but they are actually hand made at Remo and the heads are therefore expensive.
