Trixon was the distributor of A.Zildjian in Germany through part of the 50's and into the 70's. Later in the 60's, they shared this with Sonor and after Trixon went into hiatus, Sonor did it alone.

I think( but do not know for sure), that the Trixon and Sonor stamps were put on at Zildjian ,as a separate procedure. At Trixon and presumably at Sonor, too, cymbals supplied with kits were double stamped, whereas cymbals distributed, to music stores only had the A.Zildjian stamp.

About a year ago, I purchased a quantity of N.O.S. Trixon/Zildjian cymbals from a former Trixon employee's daughter. One of the cymbals had no Trixon stamp. It was otherwise, a very good 60's A.Zildjian cymbal.

It's too bad Trixon hadn't chosen K.Zildjian to distribute.

so, i checked over all the Trixon/Zildjian stamped cymbals that I have and I weighed a bunch of 16 " cymbals to boot. all of the Trixon/Zildjians have an inch and an eighth deep Zildjian stamp, not including the Trixon stamp-----maybe someone out there can date those accurately---there are no little dots included---what does yours measure? i also weighed a bunch of 16 inch cymbals including one Trixon/Zildjian and only one; a Zanchi, marked heavy, came in at over 3 lbs.; 3.25 to be exact. yours ,at 3.8 is a whopper and I would suspect might have originally been a marching band cymbal. Trixon made those, because I have a pair with the old treble clef badge stamped into them(probably made by Meinl); came complete with the original leather handles N.O.S. BUT neither of them is as heavy as yours.

In that case it would be more logical that the cymbals were stamped Trixon by the distributer (Trixon).

That conclusion does not necessarily follow from the information given nor does it even make any sense. Any company such as Trixon, Sonor, Premier, etc., ordering cymbals from Zildjian would not want to invest the considerable amount of money required for a trademark imprinting machine just to put their name on the cymbals that Zildjian's had shipped to them, when Zildjian already such a machine and only required the correct die for the various manufacturers to do it themselves.

The most likely scenario would have been for Zildjian to have "double stamped" those cymbals dedicated to be shipped to those various manufacturers themselves as needed.
