Trending to Lower Prices Last viewed: 9 minutes ago

Guys have been mentioning a decline in pricing of late. This one seems a bit contrary to that thought. It does depend on the final price paid for what is offered and we don’t always see that. We do see some that appear to be overpriced and not selling, but I don't see a lot yet that are selling really low. In this case it looks as if we will see the final figure.

Here the seller is clear on the fact that the drum has seen significant use, that it does not have the original snare frame and wires, does not have a 'D' stamped strainer and is missing the cover for the butt end of the bottom hoop. So, at best you get a 7-line deep shell plus what appears to be original hoops and rods. Then you're on the hunt for some fairly difficult to find and expensive parts. The original type frame and a set of original snares is going to be very hard to come by and not cheap (unless of course one has a spare set at home, but even that has market value that will be given up to use it on this drum).

Even so, it's approaching $700 with a few days to go and has met its reserve. Pretty good I'd say, notwithstanding that you don't see too many 7-line drums in the 6-1/2" depth.

Unless 7 line drums are going for a very high premium that I don't know about I am surprised at that price, the picture quality is good and even I can see some pretty serious pitting on the lugs, and the inserts look pretty roached too.I appreciate the sellers honesty

but it would be interesting to know if the winner actually pays for it.

I have a 7 line 5'' and would like to think I could get at least $450, only issue is it's missing the rail gaurds other wise all original except batter head. So a 6.5'' going for over 600 seems reasonable but not sure what with that particular drums issues, hmm . . .

By comparison, I bought a wood Powertone WMP via Facebook last week for $425 + shipping and I think that represents the median price considering it's not a particularly rare finish :)

Ebay at times for me can be so inaccurate at gauging a price. I've seen times ( sure we all have ) where the item has a week left and people start a bidding war on day one. You end up running the price higher ( in some cases ) than it should be, all because two / three folks get locked into the " I want - MINE " mindset and just go above and beyond. I think on the whole though, prices have maintained and haven't gone too crazy one way or the other. Always exceptions. And I think a lot of paying less has to do with the abundance of some of these drums. Not nearly as hard to find as they used to be.
