I just picked up what I believe to be an Auditorium snare shell and rims for , well... I am embarrassed how little I paid. Its 6.5x14, 8 lug mahogany 3ply with NOB rims, and unfortunately only one original lug, and no throw off or butt.
I have to admit I know little to nothing about these. I would love to get enlightened as to what I should do with this, and perhaps weather it is desirable, collectible? Should I refinish? Just put it back together and play it?
The bearing edges are absolutely perfect. No extra holes whatsoever. No date stamp inside the shell. The finish (lacquer) is flaking off in about .5mm squares, but it is solid with no discernible damage to the shell.
A little help??
