Trans Stamp Beauty

Picked this 18" trans stamp off eBAY for $45.73. Don't know why anyone thought it needed 14 rivets, with it's 1341 gram weight they deaden it. Got 4 in there now and it really sings! I've run through a few TS's and this one comes as close to an Old K as I've found, just a touch of TAH, a very low fundamental pitch and a primary stick sound that stays well above the wash.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Nice pics and a very nice price. Can you do a close up of the trademark stamp itself? I'd be interested to see which type of trans stamp it has given the nice looking hammering.

TS are my favorites. I got a 18.75" at about that weight for $40 from craigslist. Really heavy hammering and low pitched.

I'd say a type III (1950-52) but the last word belongs to Bill Hartrick of course.

Your picture enhanced a bit:

Love TS's! Picked up a 20'' TS from the same Goodwill score that had a 20'' Turkish K,

both pies just under 2000g and the TS sounds more like a K to me than the K does. Just the right amount of 'tah' on the TS. I think another 100g lighter and my K would have that

trademark washy dragons breath, alas, I can't complain...

Nice job on your TS score, will have to keep a look out :)

Found it!!
