I just ordered a 16" Tosco by Sabian crash made in Canada. Anybody have any info on it? From what I read most Tosco's were made in Italy, even some of the early "by Sabian" Toscos but this is stamped made in Canada. Also, is it B20? Looks like it is to my eye.
Tosco by Sabian Made in Canada
Bob Zildjian bought the Tosco company and for a short while, made Tosco branded cymbals in the Sabian factory in Canada. They were a flop; not to say they were bad cymbals. They just didn't sell. I'm not sure if they were Sabian rejects or not. When I was at the Sabian factory years ago, we passed by multiple barrels full of rejects that were to be melted down and re-cast. There used to be several cymbal companies in Italy, including Zanchi, but all are out of business, save for UFIP.
Bob Zildjian told me he gained thirty pounds when he was doing business in Italy.
Got the cymbal. Nice sounding crash...reminds me of a Zildjian A. Here is the sound demo: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQxA7mu11jQ"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQxA7mu11jQ[/ame]
