Tosco 14" Hi-Hats 70s/80s

Loading...

I'll upload a picture soon but I was wondering if there is any demand for these.

I have never seen anyone else use them and hadn't heard of them until I got some hi-hats with an old drum kit I bought.

They are without damage and the engraving can still be seen.

Also can anyone give me a valuation?

Are the tosco's more of a silver color instead of a brassy color?

Those are respectable vintage Italian hi-hats...Tosco existed before Sabian bought them out in the early 80's...so if they just say Tosco..not "Tosco by Sabian"...those are the original real deal. B20 alloy I would think .

Nice example of vintage Italian cymbals. Usually good for Jazz, not heavy-hitters.

PM me if you wanna sell 'em.

As a side note....went to the Sabian "yard sale" this weekend @ the Sabian warehouse in Marshfield, Ma. They were offering 18" cast crash cymbals for $20 each and 22" Ride cymbals for $22 each. Lots of prototypes and "shop soiled" returns. Some of the prototypes were ok, some of the shop soiled were ok, most were real clankers though. The 18" cheapo cymbals were Tosco and they sounded pretty good FOR THE MONEY. Good cymbals for a practice room or an open mic nite where you don't want your good stuff trashed.....did I pick any up? Nah, but then again, I had a certain sound in mind.....might not have been worth the hour and a half ride down....and the hour and 50 mins back (traffic) but you never know unless you go.....

That sounds like a nice field trip.

Yeah, after buying Tosco, Sabian kept the Italy facility producing for a few years, then closed it down. They then made a Tosco line in Canada for a few more years, but dumbed 'em down to beginner cymbals (no real connection to their namesakes), eventually phased out the name a few years later...then reintroduced the name/series a few years ago. I have heard the new ones are OK cymbals....they are relatively inexpensive and supposedly half-decent.

But no confusing these with the older Italians...

These are the original italian ones i believe. I think the were bought by their previous owner in the early eighties. The only branding is a small engraving that just says tosco. They have no damage, only the normal signs of use. And yes i will sell them. I am in fact selling my whole vintage drum kit. Made by psl. 9 piece.
