With a few exceptions (Noble & Cooley, Craviotto), older drums were just built better and sound better. Plus, I love the look of the older stuff.

1-those drums imprinted on you when you were younger.2-you are nostalgic for the era in which you began playing.3-you can afford more expensive collectable gear.4-you can't afford more expensive newer, quality gear.5-you are nostalgic for the drums your hero's/idols played.6-you didn't think there were any drums made after 1980, '77, '70, etc.7-you love to tinker, and restoring drums combines 2 favorite hobbies.8-you don't speak Japanese or chinese or korean9-you believe that newer drums are not made as well or don't sound as good.and finally...10- vintage? whats vintage, I bought this new!Which one are you? (or is there an 11,12, etc)
Definitely 1960 to 1977/78....1,2,3, and 8,9,10) Wow, 6 out of 10, I must be as vintage as my drums.. Number 9, Number 9, Number 9, Number 9, ... ...
