Too Many Choices Not Enough Brain Cells

I'm in the hunt for another kit, I sold the Ludwig wmp for $1,300, but I don't want to spend it all, so I'm giving myself a budget of $1,000.

Several choices have come tumbling in from various sellers. My first choice is a Ludwig gold sparkle if I can convince the seller to ship.

1) Ludwig gold sparkle, 1965, 12,16,22-$800

2) Yamaha 9000 mahogany stain, 12,13,16,22-$750

3) Fibes smoke acrylic,12,13,16,22-$700

4) Tama Royalstar/Camco,12,16,22-$500

5) Ludwig USA Rocker, red sparkle, 13,14,16,22-$400

This is just the first five, there are more to come.

Even though the drums in the WMP kit you sold had different dates in the shells, overall it looked to be in extremely good condition. The $1,300 you got for them seems like a reasonable price for both you and the buyer. Given the condition, if you kept looking for buyers I think you might have been able to get as much as $1500, but who knows how long that might have taken. Enjoy the search for your next purchase!

I bought the wmp because it was so clean and the price was right. I knew I could eventually sell it and make a good profit. I'm not into wmp as much as I use to be, so letting them go was a fairly easy decision.

Well, since you sold the other red sparkle Ludwig kit, I'd say go with the rockers and pocket a wad of cash. They would make a great kit to take to those gigs where conditions/situation point to leaving the really nice stuff home.

1968 Ludwig Hollywood kit Blue Oyster Pearl

I guess it's different strokes, pun intended of course. When I was a young drummer in the late 50s, early 60s, all I dreamed about was a set of Ludwig Super Classics in WMP. Little did I know then that I would eventually have a son (Milestones on the site) who would play a whole lot better than I do and was in to the exact same thing. So now, all these years later, we jointly have a set of 1962 Super Classics in WMP. :)

That's why I have these, it's been my gigging kit.

I love that Rogers, ya, it has cracks in the wrap, but it sounds big and full with the 13,16 20, looks great on stage and I don't have to worry about scratching the finish. It's the perfect gigging kit.Cool1
