Toms with no badges

Been looking at Slingerland 60's kits. Seems like I see a lot of them with no badges on the mounted toms. Is this indicative of non matched sets or is it a common Slingerland aspect?...or something else?

It's the way it was. They didn't put badges on the toms of those early 60's kits.

Thank you. Hope is wasn't a dumb question. Gearing up to buy my 1st vintage kit and am in heavy educational mode.

This site is excellent for that. Also, I would suggest you pick up a few books. Vintage Drums, Slingerland, Ludwig, blah blah blah. They are great reads. Seriously. I have read and reread them several times. Welcome!

No vent holes on those early 60's toms either; Slingerland had a decided path all their own. In my humble opinion, the most underrated American brand drums out here, still playing them since my first kit in '65. Good luck on your search, once you fall into the vintage pond you'll never get out!

Yes, good observation...those always threw me, those Slingy shells with holes only for the lugs and muffler...no eyelet, no badge.

I always wondered, if you hit that sorta non-vented drum hard enough, could you actually make the res head break ?Eye Ball;)
