I have no workbench, no vice, and no fancy tools. What I have always done in the past, though primitive, is roll it on the (low pile) basement carpeting, get my eyes down to the floor so I can see the high and low spots, and I then just pound the high spot with a rubber mallet, while holding the rest of the rod firmly with my other hand. It takes a few tries, but usually works pretty well. Plus it makes me feel like a blacksmith!

What do you guys do, if you don't have a vice, workbench etc. available?

Thanks.
