Tips for MIJ bass drum heads

Loading...

I just can't seem to find the thread I started about using a solid 20" circle of thin felt glued to the inside of both heads on MIJ bass drums- I have been using this set up on a Pearl kit in my rehearsal space for the last few weeks and it sounds spectacular- it's a true inexpensive winner- I think much better than traditional felt strips.

I tried it on floor toms and rack toms and have to say not. It deadens the drum too much- even slightly more than a hydraulic head. so for Fts and Rts I went back to normal heads.

The felt inner layer for bass drums is my new secret weapon.

Just wanted post it's a non winner on toms.
