sounds like a good plan. I talked to a printing guy about doing this and he said they can do really good copying of this sort of thing. Probably put it on a quality vinyl too. It won't have the depth of the original but it'll look right from a couple of feet. Let us know how you get on.

I have another idea - but be very careful when researching (and implementing) this advice.

It depends on the width of you inlay you are going with. If it is narrow, perhaps you can afford to trim that much odd the BD wrap. But again - be very careful. It may not work at all, but calculate if you can afford any off of there and if it will be enough.

Another option would be to just go with black hoops with no inlays until you find some tiger eye wrap for the hoop.

Solid black wood hoops would look killer, but dampen the vintage vibe I'm

thinking. I was able to get the wrap off the hoop without any damage and

in one piece. It was glued over once at the seam and my trusty pen knife

brought it up in just a few tries.

I first laid it down in the scanner and it didn't scan well. Next I took a photo with my iphone and printed that directly and it turned out pretty well! I'm going to talk to Office Max and see what they can do or talk to a local printer and see if the vinyl solution is viable.

Thanks for all ideas folks and here's the final outcome. Went to a fast sign

company and they said that scanning the old hoop wrap would be costly after

computer work was involved and easily run over a c note for that alone. I decided to just buy an Aquarian front head in ebony and bought a can of Gloss Black Rustoelum and gave both hoops a first coat. Gotta say it's gonna look pretty danged spinarly once I can put the heads and hoops back on. I'll save the front 60's logo Ludwig for the Majestic kit since it's missing one and modernize the Whitehall just a tish with the new look. I should have photos in a few days!

I ended up painting the hoops gloss black and changed the front head to an ebony to match. I think it adds a touch of modern and guzzied this kit up nicely. The bass drum legs are due in later this week and I'll post some shots and video or the finished product.
