Thoughts on new Ebay? Last viewed: 13 hours ago

From drumfactory

I was counting on ebay to help move much of these but still drag my feet because I'd rather keep them all than give them app. 20% and please don't forget the tax man that also steals profits regularly. Not really sure how to deal with this issue!!!

Sell them in other venues with a patient hand. It may (or may not) take longer, but you can live with yourself for not compromising. VDF, DFO, SMaxwell's, etc etc etc ... there are many other avenues to sell. You just gotta draw the line in the sand and not look back. Once you realize that ebay is not the only or the best method, ... it'll hit you.

Ebay/Paypal = The 'Dark Side' of the Force.

VDF = Ewoks, Luke, the Wookie....

I opted out of the evil empire almost a year ago. Left with 100% pos feedback for over 200 transactions. I haven't looked back since.

it was announced today that ebay/paypal is showing higher profits than they expected. so i don't think they're worring about the people's complaints.

this isn't the article i seen, but it still gives you a idea:

most of you may know i stopped selling on ebay long ago. i understand that they gotta make their money too. but as much as i love the site, with all the fees its not enough for me to stay on there.

however i'm actually making more money selling on my own. i'm not making bank but i'm paying the bills. so cutting out the middleman was the best thing i ever done.

I walked away from paypal and ebay about 9 months ago. Wasn't worth the aggravations then, never mind now! If I was to get serious about selling via the internet once again, I would probably invest in my own site with tons of advertising in the appropriate trade publications. This way the sales are on MY terms and no one else. Screw Ebay, Paypal and all the rest like them and the horse they rode in on! :p

From slingerland

Well, I think it may be time I quit selling on EB.........they just announced major changes which I found out the hard way. I went to list an item yesterday, noticed that the listing format was different, (in a bad way) then I found out when I went to post the ship fees I get a bold message back in my face saying "your ship fees are too high for the item posted" now EB is taking control of the sellers ship fees, which is plain nutz. I tried everything to find a way to over ride it. I think they want sellers now to increase selling price so they get more profit, since they dont make a dime on ship fees. Let me know if anyone sees something I'm missing.I forgot to add the stock went up 6% after the annoucement, so it must mean money for them

Gary,You don't have to used that New listing format..I called Ebay today and asked them if i could go back to the selling format i was using. Its the easy format you can only post 4 photos to the listing ,set your own shipping/handling ete and its a page long...Mikey

So let me get this correct, you have to call EB and have them adjust your account options? sounds suspicious that they can modify how to sell per user, you would think its one for all and all for one. I'll call em see what happens. thanks for posting.
