Brian, that is not a MIJ Star. It is an early American marching snare.

Morning, John!

I didn't think it was a MIJ Star. I looks about thirty years older than Stars were even produced. I just didn't realize that these marching snares could be so expensive. When I wrote to the seller, he told me that he had taken the rope off and threw it away . I have no idea why. There must be quite the market for these old drums though. There is another posted on ebay.ca . Thanks for responding, John.
