Thinking about downsizing the drum gear

I may be wanting to sell some of my drums in the near future. I don't really want to go the eBay route and I may just sell "local pickup only'. But, if there are people here that are interested in what I'm thinking about letting go I may be willing to ship under certain circumstances. That would have to be negotiated at the time.

I'm getting old and feeling the clutter haha.

This is what I'm thinking that I may be parting with:

Gretsch 1954 Red Sparkle drums: 20"bd/13 and 16 toms and 5.5x14 matching finish snare. This kit would be the Name Band model. The original red plastic covered throne (more of a decorative item at today's drum throne standards), There's a old 15" K Zildjian in the mix and a Hihat stand.

Gretsch 1968 Sunset Satin Flame Rock & Roll model shellpack: 20"bd. 8x12 (x2) toms and 16 floor tom. No snare. I bought a nicer (usable) double tom holder for these drums as the one that came with them was unusable. photo here shows one 8x12 tom on a snare stand - this doesn't go with the kit and neither does the bass drum head (the head here is from one of my other Gretsch kits. This photo was taken before I bought the era-correct tom hanger which holds both toms.

Gretsch 1940's Orphaned shellpack: 24" 1949 bd/1947 13" tom/1947 16" floor tom and a very nice 6.5x14 Super Structure snare - 1948. I bought the drums separately off eBay over a period of about a year. The finish on all the shells were toast when I received them. I refinished in a stain - copied from Gretsch Burnt Orange.

I haven't thought about price yet but I would like to settle on a price the buyer and myself would be happy with.

I feel your pain.....lol. I've cleared out almost everything after 30 odd years of collecting. If this was 30 or 35 years ago, I'd be on the satin flame kit!

Rod yep that one will never go until I'm dust in the wind. But if I do I'll gladly let you take over ownership of it !!

Maybe the 'vintage drum forums' aren't the best places to thin the heard. It seems like there are a few others with the same idea. But, it sure is a good place, usually, to have ones very special drums go to a good home. Most here appreciate this gear, have knowledge about the history and share some of the same sentiments about the drums and gear we talk about. I'm only testing the waters regarding selling my drums and gear but I know the day will come soon enough when I will have to part with most of it.

The money issues and down market make a bad time to sell as I'm thinking on it too gary

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
