The snare used on all the Police hits

From Olddrumgeek

I'm of the same thinking as Dan Boucher that that pearl snare doesn't 'look' good , apart from the throw which looks great, but good sound to me is definately of uppermost importance. I hope I haven't offended you with the looks thing, anyway it's what copeland used and that's a great sound. That's too true.

Hey friend, not offended at all. Some of my favorite drums are ugly, although this one looks good to me. I almost overlooked the drum until I saw the old 'Pearl' emblem.

But ya, when you crank this drum it sounds like the one on the Police records. Very sensitive snare too.

I actually quite like the look of these. Ugly? hmmmm a bit but interesting non the less. I'm gonna start looking. I might go Jupiter 14x5 to start.

I like the drum, and I briefly had it for sale along with several others on ebay in order to fund another (unfinished) project.

I took it down in hopes of selling the others. I'm becoming a drum hoarder and might need an intervention in the future.

Mo - please add a pic of the butt (adjustable?)

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Bought one earlier this year for a fair price.

Recently put a Tama die cast on the batter, just like what SC used but it became way to bright for jazz so I put the Pearl hoop back on :D

Super nice sounding COB snare and I prefer it's tone over a COB Dynasonic I have too :)

Found it!!

I bought one of these new in 1974ish. It's got the adjustable butt plate.

Is this a COB, if anyone can tell?

Thanks.
