The newbie and the 1950’s Slingerland Drum Set

A quick observation; this kit is NOT a Krupa 1N (and that's OK). The bass drum and snare are incorrect models for a Krupa 1N kit. Check all the drums for date stamps.

Wow... thank you so much for all the fast and friendly responses. I looked for the stamps on the cymbals that OddBall suggested posting pics of, so here they are...

The first one is off the largest cymbal.

The second one is off the smaller cymbal, the one I called a "sizzle" cymbal... as that is what I found something similar online called (hsa the little vibrating rivets bored into the cymbal)

The last two were the most faint and are off the hi-hat cymbals

The first cymbal is an A. Zildjian made in Massachusetts, the second is a Zyn, and the hats are UFIP cymbals made in Italy. Quality-wise, you may know that Zildjian always made the highest quality cymbals, literally for centuries, but that's no longer the case, as there are many other cymbal companies making great products these days, particularly in Turkey. Zyn cymbals are considered of lesser quality generally, and UFIPs were always considered passably decent quality at that point in time, although UFIP now makes some of the finest cymbals in the world. Back then, UFIP made "stencil" cymbals with various names on them.

Lots of British drummers used Zyn cymbals because that was all they could get back in the 50's and 60's, and some of them couldn't wait to get their hands on real American Zildjians. Case in point: Ringo Starr. Zyns may have been made by UFIP or Paiste, but I'm not sure.
