The King Joins His Children (A Slingerland Story) Last viewed: 1 hour ago

All corniness aside, I finally found a somewhat matching snare to accompany the 1970s white Slingerland kit I purchased recently. That being a Chicago-era 1950s Slingerland Student Model Radio King snare drum.

So that makes my first Slingerland kit and Radio King snare. And a happy person. Thanks to oldschool for the snare and for tamadrum (my advisor) for the education and encouragement.

This kit sounds incredible too. Let everyone else spend thousands on those Camco's..... :)

Peace.

Very classy looking set of drums! Congrats on the kit and Radio King. Great sounding snares aren't they? I've been playing one almost exclusively for months. I 'usually' swap out kits and snare drums I'm playing fairly regularly, but lately I've just been playing my Radio King snare with a Luddy kit that Jeff added a fourth ply of mahogany to. I've got calf heads all around and the drums sound really good.

Enjoy your new/old kit buddy!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

What is it about white kits (WMP or otherwise)? Seems like they would look plain and boring, but they always look so "classy" to me. That's a beaut'.

Thanks JCC, Purdie and GG. Well, I figured since I couldn't talk John into selling me his newly acquired 14x7 Radio King I'd look elsewhere. :) And the above snare kinda fell into my lap luckily. WMP Slingerlands though are iffy with the yellowing issue so I went with the white wrap.

Great looking kit... and white responds very well under stage lighting, congratulations on having the snare just "fall into your lap"...

Cheers

Nice, Solid, good looking kit. That snare looks right at home. Darn good match from what I can see. I love my Slingerland's.

Larry, glad firstly that I could help, and that you like your vintage Slingies. There's just something...earthy about vintage 3 plys that you can't find on most modern drums. The exception would be for Legacys,C & C vintage shells and Stone custom, which uses the same Slingerland ply lay up and makes their drums on vintage, refurbished Slingerland machinery and molds.

Anyway, glad your happy with your new snare.:)
