The Deed Is Done...Sold Two of My Snares!

Loading...

Okay, the deed is done, all is calm in my household!

I know that many of the (more serious) collectors on here voiced the opinion that I should not sell any of my snares and I completely understand where you're coming from. However, as I have learned in my many years of marriage (s), you have to give a little to get a little and in the long run really can't win this kind of battle.

So, in the last couple of weeks, with the help of Ebay, I sold my (really nice) 1967-68 Sound King and just sold my early Dayton (somewhere around '68)Powertone. I did got very good money (IMHO) for the SK and a pretty good price for the PT.

No regrets though, I still have my (awesome) Dyna (near collectors condition) and my oddly interesting Super Sound King. Also, have both of my (pretty rare) candy apple red Tama Superstar snares to match my kit. I have my SSK on my kit now and will start messing around with tuning it. STILL LOOKING FOR ONE STRAINER GUARD....if you happen to come across one while walking down a dark, lonely street! :)

All in all, the good far outweighs the bad....."a happy wife is a happy life"!!!

Yes Sir

Thanks for all your help!

Have a Very Happy, Heathly & Safe New Year! Party

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

True, I hear ya, but after much thought, I think I chose correctly....sell the Sound King and keep the more unique and pretty rare (good or bad) Super Sound King....sell the Powertone and keep the mint COB Dyna, all original except top head!

Won't have any sellers regret! Gave it a lot of thought before pulling the trigger.

Thanks!

Not trying to make you wrong, trivialize your situation or get more personal than the info that you have shared above; but did the selling of those two snare drums really make that much difference in your family dynamic? I've seen a number of these threads where the forum member is forced to sell a snare drum or three to appease his wife/girlfriend...aside from a bad luck, financial, health etc. family situation/crisis, I really think this type of situation is not fair. This is by far not a generalization but I feel in the majority of situations that wives and girlfriends should let the guy collect. Please be assured that this is not a flame out to the parties involved but simply my opinion.
