The age of a Ludwig super sensitive

Loading...

Hello,

I'm a German and live in the Black Forest

close to the border to Switzerland.

I play drums and thats the reason why I

joined this community.

Now I have a question:

I think it was at the beginning of 1980

when I bought a Ludwig super sensitive

snare drum. 14"x6,5", blue - olive badge.

I will sell this drum therefore I want to identifiy this snare

with the serial number 2038599 to find out

exactly, that it's really a "super sensitive"

and when this snare drum was built.

Can you help me to find out?

Please answer in plain words because my

English knowledge is not as well :-)

best regard from Germany

Hello joannes

Does your snare look like this one?

Click on the image to enlarge.

And yes, your serial number would be around 1980 according to the serial number chart we have in the Ludwig section of the Drum Guide. The chart ends in 1979 with serial number 2013537, so it seems likely to me your drum would be from 1980.

thank you Kevins!

I think the picture shows just the 5"x14" version,

but it looks exactly like the snare on your picture.

The chart ends in 1979 with serial number 2013537.

What's the reason why the chart ends?

They ran out of paper on that tablet and noone wanted to go all the way over to the closet for another.

...or...

About 1980ish is the cuttoff foe "VINTAGE" drums. I believe it was agreed upon by seven collectors-the same number of lines found on a really cool Rogers snare. Seemed like fate at the time.......or was it eBay?
