The white greese in the tube !! Wont run !!

Do not over lubricate, they will roll back !! wipe off the t-rod with a rag and what`s left is plenty. Be sure to remove the foam or sponge damper first !!

Is how I do it !!

Never use any type of oil or grease on rods as they collect dirt and grime.....I have been using WD40 to lubricate not only the rods but all parts......just spray it on and wipe excess off and it leaves a protective coating..................

Dispite what people are led to believe,WD40 ( water displacement..expieriment/40 )....is not a lubricant. The first thing on the can says, cuts grease and oil, then, removes rust. If you have dryed grease it will loosen it and activate it`s viscosity again but will make it run !! It prevents rust !!

If you wipe off the white grease after application with a rag, it will leave a minute amount on the rod,..that`s all you need. T-rods are supposed to be properly alligned to the tap in the lug and usually do not need lubrication, old ones however could use some help !!

I remember playing trumpet in JH school and lubed it up using valve oil.Always wondered how that would work on tension rods?

I believe George Way gives a recipe for Valve Oil in his black book.

I believe kerosene and some light oil were the mixture--(not at home right now, where I could check).
