Nice little snare. I love that strainer! Is this another one of your conquests, or a lady in waiting?

I have another question. These lugs are identical to Gretsch lugs. Are they Die Cast? I have a pile of them in good condtion and they seem to be some of the absolute best lugs I have ever held, including American. They are very heavy and well made, precision parts. Do you know if they are cast or poured?

Hey O-bop, are the t-rods on your Dau snare original? and if they are, are they metric or standard? I'm beginning to think that the Dau/Teisco/Del Rey and Gracy drums were all made by Pearl. Hard to prove, but the same hardware was used on many of these, especially the mufflers, snare throws/butts, and, seemingly, lugs. I have a red sparkle Norma snare that has that "butterfly" snare butt and the same lug design as the red onyx Del Rey snare.

Hey Cn679

The rods are metric on the Dau. All the info. here in Japan that I have come across in either English or Japanese point to Teisco/DelRay/Dau being it's own drum manufacturer that eventually merged with Kawai and phased out drum production. Also, as Jonni, myself and others on here believe- Gracy was certainly it`s own drum manufacturer until atleast the late 60s. I suspect they merged into Pearl because by 1970 - you see alot of similarity in the hardware and designs. I would suspect more that Norma might actually be a Teisco build if it`s got that snare strainer design- Pearl`s snare strainer designs were pretty consistent even among their stencils. Could I see a pic of that snare?

Also if you look at Teisco build stencils and branded kits- the internal mufflers use a design with a spring mechanism- Pearls do not.

Jonni- the quality of these DelRay/Dau lugs is the same as most stencils- not as good as Gretsch. I suspect they are copying the Gretsch design intentionally...

Here is a vintage Yamaha (I am guessing 72-74) that I picked up today- looking forward to opening her up when she arrives.

Thanks Eric. Then I must have some Gretsch lugs because these look exactly like both, but they are very well built. Not your typical thin walls. These are heavy and look like they might be machined.
