Gary, My RK just sold today on ebay ($500) I was hoping for more, but I guess since it was a RW, I can't complain much. Now that I have some room with the RK gone, hmmmm well, maybe, have you seen these snares?

I read a review of on in Drum! Mag,and they said it was a terrific drum to start with and the attractive price point made it even better.
Is this the one they made after the founder ,Ray Ayotte split from the company?
I can vouch for the Taye brushed NOB snare that I bought almost a year ago. I heard it and loved the sound and the price was perfect, only because I had the cash and my buddy Todd gave me a great deal. It's mt main gigging snare.
I also suggest you check out the aluminum snare with wood hoops.
