From Ralf

There are really models around that have single lugs?Would love to see just one (for future reference).Ralf

Here you go:

A mat chrome plated brass 14 x 10 Van der Glas / Majestic (from my personal collection)

A WMP 14 x 9.5 Van der Glas / Majestic (sold)

Note: The Van der Glas brand (named after the music store) gradually turned into Majestic (completed transition since mid / end 80's). That's why a good number of drums carry both names on it.

Hi Wouter, yeah I'm familiar with the snares. The aluminum one is awesome.

In the picture here the left lug is Star and the right one is Majestic. At least those are the lugs I got a while back. The mounting screws were too short to fit the shell I needed them for so they were of no use, and the threads of the lug insert were different. But I have enough lugs to supply the floor tom. Thanks for posting those awesome snares Wouter.

I never knew those were not the same lugs. Now I do.

Cool you bought the set.

Here's another picture of a Star lug and a Majestic lug. The insides are slightly different. The Star lug insterts do not fit in the Majestic lugs.

You're welcome Ralf, as soon as the kit arrives I'll post some better pictures.

Well I have both good and bad news, the bad news is only 1 of the 2 boxes arrived. I'm nervous as hell about this, contacted the seller and waiting for a reply and I called DHL and they said only 1 box was scheduled to be delivered. Hopefully it will be resolved soon otherwise I'll freak out.

On to the good news: the bass drum and 13" rack tom came in good order.

All hardware is indeed Star era: the spurs, claws, t-rods, tom mounts and brackets, even floortom legs. The badge is quite unique as well as it doesn't state any series. The shells are all painted grey inside like Star drums were at some point, and no rerings. So a theory would be that this came from the Star Royal series and would be made into Tama Royalstar.

Overall the drums needs some TLC, some rusted parts here and there, the wrap on the bas drum is cracked at several places, pitting on the lugs. I'll take the time to bring this kit back to life and hopefully the other box surfaces soon. In the picture you can see the badge, the tom mount and a weird holder of something. I don't know if it's for a cymbal mount or and percussion item. I'll look into it in the Star catalogs but if someone has a clue please let me know. More pictures will follow as I'm not feeling to well right now. Cheers guys
