I thought Gretsch did it first but I found an old set of blk n white Swingstars, MIT. Old badge, lugs, etc. Can you tell me how rare they could be, and if they are a decent kit...not a spray interior

Sorry no, but im going back tomorrow to look closer at them. Do you know when Tama started making drums in Taiwan, that could give me a time frame? MIJ would come before MIT I assume?

Hi wayne,

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the "chevron" finish. In reference to the Gretsch Renown 57, yes, those have a stick-on chevron. Here's a picture of my Renown 57 snare drum. Is this what you're referring to?
