I've got a TAMA Swingstar snare that I'm going to be selling in the immediate future. Does the serial number on the TAMA badges indicate the year of manufacture? The one on this particular snare is 83-10520. Does that indicate that the snare was built in 1983? Thanks in advance for your help!

Not quite sure how the complete number sequence worked, but yes the 83 is correct for the year.. maybe someone will elaborate..
