Hello,

just got a staclassic maple in honey gold

has the stamp under the clear laquer. Made in japan . Maple shell.

so I have read on two different trust worthy sites that for starclassic maple ( only for starclassic maple made in japan ) to get the year the drums were made, you subtract ten from the first two numbers of the serial number. ie: 07234567 = drums made in 1997.

the kit i just bought all the serial numbers start with 00. the maple starclassic line started in 1994, so this theory does not work.

I did read somewhere that starting in 2000 Tama changed the coding to just be the first two numbers is the year and you don't subtract ten anymore. Love the drums, Love maple !! just curious if anyone knows the answer to this. all i've found so far are educated guess'. 's.
