Thank you,

I think the finish is Brazilian zebra or something like that?

Gorgeous drums! Some of my favorite Tama lugs as well.

I think the royalstar line got some upgrades over the years, like a matching inner ply of shina or other hardwood, from your pic the inside of the bd looks very dark,if it is not painted,it looks like it could be a matching shina wood inner ply.

Either way, nice drums,I think tama offered some of the best quality/sound you could get in a lower line kit,esp in the 70's 80's.

I guess I don't have to tell you that they are constructed not unlike a baked clay and earthen defecation station.

Yes , it has both outer and inner brown ply.

I stripped it down yesterday. So now its ready for some overhaul! ;)

Nice find...love those old Tama's. Dont see this finish or those lugs too often anymore. Reminds me a lot of a Tama/Camco kit I had years ago. Mine had the Camco style lugs, but everthing else was very similar...should be a fun project!

Haha! I know, they are insane.

I am actually thinking about making the 14" into a floor tom.

Not sure yet. Hmmmm
