Tama Royalstar concert tom set

Loading...

Well,I've got another one-red badge Royalstar concert tom set,

12,13 with regular 16 and 22 bass. The wrap is in poor condition, delaminating in spots and generally crispy.Zolocote interior paint, missing this and that.Good recover candidate? This poor set was ridden hard and put to bed wet...also a Rockstar 6 1/2"X 14" chrome snare and two concert tom stands, plus a Yammie 10"concert tom.

If you like Royalstars and the way they sound, and if you don't have a lot in them, and are not concerned about making a profit if you want to sell, what the heck recover them.It looks from the pics that you might need some serious elbow grease to go along with the labor of love.

Might be time to try your hand at veneering, Tom. The material is cheap. the work tedious, but the result is fantastic. Watch the sizes. You can order them in various widths, but are limited on much because they are not wide/long enough for the bass. Just look closely at the dimensions. You order multiple sizes in order to cover each shell. I was going to do a Bubinga last year, but life, as it is accustomed, got in the way.

I am pretty sure Royalstars are Luan, and therefore not very flat, surface wise(insert "open grain").Maybe my friend JCcabinets will chime in with a suggestion. There is a roll of walnut veneer in my attic that was supposed to go on the 1989 Rockstars, like 3 years ago.Paranoia,a messy garage without a big flat surface and a failed attempt many years ago has hindered progress.
