You could replace the missing strands of wire to the original set. Secure the original wires on a bench by using something like painter's tape across each of the end pieces. Use a nice temperature controlled soldering iron 700-750 F, flow the solder and add snipped strands from a sacrificial standard wire set.

Good point on replacing the wire's i have done many of these repair's over the year's also custom wire's at the shop.But you don't want to use tape to hold down the wire's when doing this.The way i do it is i have a piece of 2x4 wood i lay down the wire's on i first put a nail at one end in the hole,then i lighty pull the wire's so they lay flat Don't pull the wire's tight,then i remove the bad or replace the wire's....Mikey

i got one like the one in the OP. I had to replace the muffler with a tama roystar for the time being. i lucked out and the local music store had a set of the pure sound wires kicking around. i traded a paiste 3000 crash and a pearl boom to acquire this ....... really happy to have this for the collection

I bought one in the 80's ,,,not parallel,,,,but had die cast hoops,,,it had a may ea mic in it,,,(& holes) so it got ,,,fiberglassed ,painted in '87...then fiberglass removed,sanded & painted,,,,it'll be a good gig/beater drum , if we ever play out,,,lol.....the grey drum,,,before it was repainted last summer ,,lol
