Tama Imperialstar floortom

Loading...

Hi guys, I found a rare item and it has finally arrived. A 14"x14" floortom. As far as I know it's a hard item to find and this is the second one I've seen so far.

Also a rarity is that is has re-rings but with the 80's hardware. Since all my Imps are 70's I'll switch the hardware as well but keeping the originals. I had legs and muffler laying aroubd so I already switched them, only the brackets need to be changed. So I'm on the look out for them.

I always have my eye open for rering Imperialstars. All I've run across so far for reasonable money was a concert tom set, and I would have wanted to convert it to double heads.

Patience is the key. I've been lucky so far here in the Netherlands. Found quite a few for very cheap. I was planning on converting two concert toms into one floor tom but after much discussion I cancelled it and two months later this one showed up. Lucky me I guess.

Converting concert toms into dual headed isn't a bad idea if you don't mind the bottom side not having re-rings and no zola coating due to bearing edges. Good luck with the search.

The problem with converting concert toms is that the lugs are f a r ther away from the bearing in an effort to "balance" the look a bit. When the bottom lugs are added at the same distance, it looks a bit odd to me.....

A midnight blue floor tom? Awesome.. I've wanted to find some MB toms for my concert kit, but I really wonder, do I need more drums for this set? Of course I do...
