I'm not real familiar with tama but I was wondering if this is a Tama bell brass that everyone talks about?
If not what model is this one in the pic?
Thanks, Gary.
I'd guess a PM326 from around 1990. Definately not a bell brass shell.

Die cast rims look to be depicted on that catalog page. Mine came with Mighty Hoops.
That's about the year I bought mine :)
The piccolo version in brass is so rare that no one even wants mine! :D
Here is the exact catalog page with your Power Metal brass snare -

Wow - even if this is not the coveted bell brass Tama snare everyone always raves about, this look like it could be a real beauty! Polish it up and it will look spectacular and give her new heads and tune it up and she will likely sound as good! .....and at a fraction of the cost of the bell brass.
Those pics of these in the catalog really give you an idea of what you are looking at - it makes all the difference to see these pics to truly understand the potential of the dirty dull drum you see there.
Thanks a lot guys. I knew this would be the place to ask. It does look like a nice snare.
Thanks, Gary.
They are lacquered as well.
My lacquer started peeling quite some time ago. I stupidly used steel wool to remove the rest before I was a VDF member.
So don't make the mistake I made, keep the steel wool off the drum! Luckily I used some pretty fine stuff, but I can still see the tiny scratches left behind from my handy work :(
Im going to pass on this at the moment. The drum is listed in the Cleveland craigslist along with a granstar kit.
Thanks again for all the help, Gary.
Wow, for 650 clams and it's a Granstar Custom kit. Too bad they are power toms.
Was just looking at sold listings on eBay and somewhat to my astonishment these brass Power Metal series snare drums aren't fetching much...
