Tacked reso tom head restore??

Has anyone taken one of these old Gretsch "tacked-on" tom heads apart?

I may want to take the tacked on head off to clean the shell - but - I don't want to do that if it's going to mess with the drum to much.

I just bought the drum so I won't have it in my hands for a couple of weeks at least.

Any thoughts or experience here?

Is that a tear in the bottom head? If it's not, I would leave it alone for sure.

You could repaint the drum if you wanted to but for me I kinda like the original "weathered" look.

That's a cool little drum! :)

Ya - thanks for that!

I'm hoping the drum will get here in a couple of weeks. You're right, I will probably just clean it up if the reso head is not torn. However, I would like to tuck a new batter head.

The shell looks typically Gretsch - tight and tidy. :)

How do you mount that drum?

On a nice little snare stand I'm thinking OR

I could try the Gibraltar Suspension System like I have on my Purewoods. I could see if the 10" tom hardware I have on my Purewood 10" tom will fit. The seller said this "tacky" tom is 10". It's a good ole Gretsch 5 lug so it might fit..........

I'm thinking "levitation" to.....
