swingstar 1960?

Loading...

Hello

I've been searching the web for a very long time, and I still don't know exactly how old my drumset is.

It's a Swingstar and I know the shells are mahogany. I can't find any information about the shellwrap, does anyone know if this wrap is still available for purchase?

Also, is it a good drumset? Does anyone know anything about it's value?

The floortom is missing..

Greetings,

Yordi from the Netherlands

That is a 1966 Star "Kingbeat" kit in a Bamboo wrap

My roomate in Vancouver has the exact same set

Don't know if you can find anyone who makes that wrap anymore... I always remember (actually, still have the recordings) that kit being a little on the "clanky" side; not a ton of low end warmth, and the tom mounting system chokes them out quite a bit

But for some music styles, a "huge, thundering" presence would seem out of place... its a 1966 era kit, and during that time music hadn't really gotten that angry

Just to be accurate: the finish was called 'Fibre Gold'.

Although ... 'Bamboo wrap' nails it even more/better ...!:D

To answer your questions: unfortunately no - I've never seen this wrap again. It will be a hard time to bring up the patience for waiting for a matching floor tom. Best of luck!

It's a pitty, but the missing floor tom brings the price extremely down. If completed, it may be worth EUR 200 - 300, but now ...?!
