supraphonic 5x14 questions

Last weekend i traded in a condenser microphone(that i got for free due to a mix-up with musician's friend) for a ludwig snare drum that had been spray painted white and was missing it's batter head. Last year i found a maxwin drum set with old ludwig/wfl hardware and a friends house, and i figured it would be great replacement for the generic snare i had. After I got home I stripped the drum back down to the chrome and removed most of the grime and rust(a lot of it) from the hardware. I checked the number on the badge and found it to be from around 1965! I just dabble in drums, guitar being my main instrument that i also suck at, and i was wondering how to tell if i have a brass shell or not, how much i could re-sell this thing for in it's current condition, and if re-chroming the shell is an option.

Definitely not a brass drum.

The pitted shell and serial # on the badge show that it's probably not brass, fixed up with the correct hardware maybe 100.00-125.00 in that condition, not worth your money to re-chrome unless you can have it done for free.

-Not "probably not" a brass drum...It's DEFINITELY not a brass drum. There is absolutely no question about it. I agree with the value estimate of a drum in that condition -$100.00 -$125.00 sounds about right.

Don't sell it. Hit it. I'm sure it sounds fine.

Here's what you do if you can't find a cheap plating service to re-chrome your drum. This cost me $80 to get the old chrome taken off and powdercoated plus all of the new hardware which wasn't very cheap.

That, it does. I'm keeping it just like it is.
