Scrubbing Bubbles is the very first thing I tried - absolutely no affect on what's spilled/splashed on the finish. It's as if it was a strong bleach or acid that splashed on and seemed to dye the finish. Can't be certain though - all I know so far is that nothing seems to have an affect on it for removal.

Those are gorgeous and I would leave as is. Personally those little blemishes give the drum life and show it's been used but certainly not abused. And most people won't be aware of the minor issues the kit has.

For some folks, the details really matter because they see them intensely. Others don't see them quite the same way. But time will sometimes help on that. If the only reason you would sell them is the details you mentioned, give it some time. Don't rush to sell them, but see first of all if you are getting that Great Gretsch Sound out of the drums. If so, let them grow on you for a while. Think about ways to adjust to what you see as deficiencies before making any mods, especially given that the set represents something from your past.

Keep your eyes open in the meantime for the same set without the deficiencies and grab it if it comes along. Then sell off the one you have.

Otherwise, with a little time you may find you like them a whole lot more than you do at the moment.

I agree with everyone else, dont do a thing to them. Dan Boucher has best advice. I would love to have them in my basement I think they are very cool, and ya the great Gretsch sound!
