I guess I was the last person to post here. This thread is popular. Just finished this one. The right suitcase finally came along.

The suitcase was hard to find. Usually they go for $40 in "thrift" stores around Chicago, but I got lucky this fall. It was $5.

This summer I'd like to put some decals on it from places I've actually been.

Wow, Dave, very inventive!

Two questions for you: are those little flipper feet that rotate out for stabilization?

What’s with the tennis ball beater? Does it improve the sound or is it just an improvised beater instead of a factory one?

jmcohen - Yeah, the metal feet fold in and out. The tennis ball provides a better thump than the felt beater I was using.

Thats the coolest suitcase drum set I’ve seen! I’ve had this leather suitcase floating around for a similar project, but it’s not gotten started yet.
